Northern Territory Police are investigating an aggravated robbery at a residence in Tiwi earlier this morning.

At 11:30am, Police received a report from the occupant stating he had been stabbed in the neck after disturbing an intruder in his backyard. The offender then fled the scene in the man's vehicle.

The 61-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated by paramedics and conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital.

Police later located the stolen 2011 Silver Hyundai Getz with NT Registration 996 999 abandoned in Strele Crescent, Wanguri.

Investigations are ongoing to identify and locate the offender.
