Northern Territory Police have arrested an absconder from the Alice Springs Correctional Facility earlier this morning.
At 2:30am, a 30-year-old male absconded from a low security compound of the facility and fled the location on foot. Alice Springs general duties, Crime and Dog Operations were all deployed.
He was arrested by police a short time ago 20kms south of the Alice Springs Correctional Facility on the Stuart Highway.
Assistant Commissioner Martin Dole said “The prisoner was not deemed to be a risk to the general public and our officers deployed swiftly to ensure he was remanded back into custody as quickly as possible.”
