UPDATE: Charges – Unlawful entries – Papunya

Northern Territory Police have charged three youths in relation to  unlawful entries in Papunya on Friday night.

From around 11:45pm Friday 29 April, a group of youths allegedly unlawfully entered a number of premises around the community causing extensive damage.

Local police, with assistance from Strike Force Viper, arrested three youths in relation to the offending. All three were charged with:

  • 2 x Unlawful entry – building
  • 2 x Damage to property

A 14-year-old male was remanded to appear in court on 17 June 2022.

A 13-year-old male was remanded to appear in court on 6 May 2022.

A 12-year-old male was bailed to appear in court on 26 May 2022.

Acting Superintendent Alex Brennan said, “Police investigations are ongoing as we work to locate the remaining offender.

“We would like to thank the community for working closely with police throughout the investigation.

As a result of the damage, there will be a flow on effect to the community, with a multiagency response currently underway to ensure that impact is minimal.”
