UPDATE: Charges – Property offences – Darwin

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a youth in relation to numerous property offences around Darwin earlier this week.

A 16-year-old male was arrested yesterday for his alleged involvement in an unlawful entry of a jewellers on Smith Street on Monday night.

He has also been connected to three vehicles being vandalised and unlawful entries at premises in Francis Bay and Winnellie on Tuesday night.    

Detectives from Strike Force Trident have since charged him with:

  • 4 x Aggravated unlawful entry
  • 4 x Stealing
  • 1 x Armed with offensive weapon
  • 9 x Damage to property

He was remanded to appear in court today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, “Investigations into these property offences are ongoing with a number of further offenders identified.

“Forensics, CCTV and witness statements all assisted in the investigation and police would like to thank members of the public for their assistance. Police continue to urge anyone with information, or who noticed any suspicious behaviour, at these locations on Monday and Tuesday to make contact on 131 444. 

“An incredibly large amount of property damage has been caused by a relatively small cohort of individuals, with the main offender soon to face court for his actions.”
