UPDATE: Arrest – Armed person – Palmerston

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 24-year-old man in relation to firearm offences at a remote outstation in the Victoria Daly River Region last month.

The man was arrested in Palmerston yesterday afternoon without incident. A search of the premises was conducted to locate the firearm however, it was not found.

He has since been remanded and charged with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Point firearm at person causing danger
  • Discharge a firearm across roads
  • Possess firearm unlicensed
  • Unlawful entry
  • Damage to property
  • Drive motor vehicle unlicensed

He will appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Police would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in locating the man, who had been actively avoiding police.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Michael Budge said, “Investigations into the firearms incident are ongoing.

“Anyone with information in relation to the incident or the whereabouts of the firearm, is urged to contact police on 131 444, or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference number on 10095286.”
