Northern Territory Police and the Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service responded to a structure fire in the community of Amoonguna overnight.

At around 4:40am, reports were received that a residential building on Mulga Drive had caught fire. Four occupants had evacuated upon police arrival, with an adult male evacuated by police members a short time later.

Firefighting crews in breathing apparatus entered the structure and conducted an internal attack of the fire.

Firefighters undertook an internal search of the property and did not locate any occupants. The single story residence has extensive damage and a vehicle was destroyed.

The fire was brought under control just before 7:30am.

Fire investigators are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire.

NTFRS District Officer Stephen Hunter said, “This was a fantastic result with all members involved helping to ensure no lives were lost and the damage was predominantly contained to the one structure.

“Initial investigations indicate no suspicious circumstances however a fire investigator will determine the exact cause.”
