Northern Territory Police are investigating a fatal crash on Marindja Road overnight.

At around 11:30pm, police received reports of a single vehicle crash in which a male passenger had died.

It is believed a utility vehicle, carrying seven people, was travelling along Marindja Road, when a passenger in the tray has fallen off. The 23-year-old male sustained fatal injuries. The passengers have transported the victim out of the area until they could reach phone reception on Litchfield Park Road. 

Police and St John Ambulance attended.

The 35-year-old driver tested positive for alcohol and is expected to be charged later today.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Corey Borton said, “The Major Crash Unit are currently on scene investigating.

“A report will be prepared for the coroner.”
