Northern Territory Police arrested a 45-year-old man for drugs and firearms offences yesterday in Katherine.
Acting on information received, members from the Northern Investigations Section executed a search warrant on a storage unit and located a traffickable amount of cannabis, two unsecured shotguns and a large amount of cash, as well as other items indicating drug supply.
The 45-year-old man later attended the Katherine Police Station where he was arrested without incident.
Last night police charged him with:
- Supply Schedule 2 – commercial quantity
- Possess Schedule 2 – traffickable quantity
- Possess Schedule 1 – traffickable quantity
- Possess property / commission of an offence
- Possess thing to administer a drug
- Failure to comply with storage requirements (firearms)
- Possess unregistered firearm x 2
- Possess firearm unlicenced x 2
- Fail to comply with reporting conditions x 2
The man was remanded to appear in Katherine Local Court today.
Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Lawson said, “This is a significant seizure and police have disrupted a well-organised supply chain of illicit drugs in the region.”
