Call for information - Hit and run - Timber Creek

Northern Territory Police are appealing for public assistance in relation to a fatal hit and run near Timber Creek earlier this week.

Around 4:30am on Friday, police responded to reports that a man had been struck by a vehicle on the Victoria Highway, 40km West of Timber Creek.

A 19-year-old man was declared dead at the scene and the offending vehicle and driver unknown.

Police are calling for motorists who were travelling on the Victoria Highway between Timber Creek and Kununurra between the period of midnight and 4am.

Detective Senior Sergeant Corey Borton said, “The exact circumstances around what happened remain unknown. We urge any motorists who were travelling in the area to contact police.”

“Major Crash are investigating and urge the driver of the vehicle to make themselves known to police. Similarly, anyone with information which may assist with our investigations can report information to police on 131 444 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
