Arrests – Property offending – Northern Suburbs

Strike Force Trident have arrested two teenagers in relation to separate property offences in the Northern Suburbs.

During the early hours of Friday, a 17-year-old allegedly entered a residence in Jingili, stealing a number of items including car keys and credit cards before fleeing the scene in a Toyota Prado.

The youth then allegedly used the credit cards at a local service station.

Trident members investigating the incident identified the offender from CCTV footage.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Humphries said, “We received information that the youth was loitering in a fire escape at a local shopping centre in Casuarina.

“Trident and Dog Ops members cordoned off the area which had three separate escape routes. The youth was subsequently arrested without incident and taken to Palmerston Watch House.” 

He has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle and obtain benefit by deception.

Later that day, Trident members received information on an offender, who allegedly damaged the entrance to a business in Millner before walking inside and causing further damage.

The 14-year-old had been actively avoiding police however, he was located yesterday afternoon at the bus exchange in Casuarina.

Detective Acting S/SGT Humphries said, “The youth was sighted and a cordon was put in place. He has attempted to evade police on an e-scooter but rode directly into awaiting Trident members who arrested him without incident.”

He was taken to Palmerston Watch House and charged with:

  • Unlawfully enter building with intent
  • Unlawfully damage property
  • Serious breach of youth bail
