Arrest – Drug offences – East Arnhem Region

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in relation to drug offences in a remote community in the East Arnhem Region.

Dog Operations seized a large sum of cash and about 615 grams of cannabis after Drug Detection Dog Rafa responded to the man.

The 56-year-old was arrested at a residence and charged with:

  • Possess schedule 2 dangerous drug – commercial quantity
  • Supply schedule 2 dangerous drug – commercial quantity
  • Receive / possess property from commission of offence
  • Possess thing to administer dangerous drug

Senior Sergeant Emma Carter said: “This is great work by the handler and Drug Detection Dog Rafa, whose presence in the community is important to disrupt the supply of illicit substances that make their way into vulnerable communities.

“Police will continue to target those who attempt to transport illicit substances and those who intend to profit from vulnerable persons.”
