Northern Territory Police have announced a $250,000 reward for information in relation to missing person Patrick ‘Paddy’ Moriarty.

Mr Moriarty was last seen in Larrimah at dusk on Saturday 16 December 2017 when he was leaving the Larrimah Hotel on his quad bike, in the company of his red kelpie, Kellie. Despite many searches and investigations, there has been no trace of Mr Moriarty or his dog since that day.

Detective Sergeant Matthew Allen has been leading the investigation for over three years.

“The investigation remains focussed on establishing what happened to Paddy, where he might be and who is responsible. We continue to follow up information from the public and a number of people have been eliminated from our enquiries. Somebody knows what happened. A 70-year-old man and his dog don’t just disappear from a tiny outback town,” he said.

“Police believe Paddy has been murdered. We are offering a reward of $250,000 for information leading to the location of his body and the conviction of the person or people responsible for his death. The case will only be closed when it is solved.”

Police have also released a photo of Mr Moriarty that was taken at the pub the day he disappeared. He was wearing a white singlet, dark shorts, brown thongs and a dark cap.

Large signs advertising the reward have been erected around Larrimah and along the Stuart Highway, in the hopes of triggering someone’s memory and starting conversations about what happened to Paddy.

“Even if you don’t think you have any useful information, the smallest clue might be just what we need to resolve this case.”
