Liquor seizure – West Arnhem region

Northern Territory Police have seized cannabis and a large quantity of alcohol destined for a remote community.

Yesterday, members from the Dog Operations Unit carried out a drug and alcohol screening of a flight. Drug Detection Dog April was deployed and identified six offenders for drug and alcohol offences.

Police seized a total of:

  • 5 X 700ml Bundaberg Rum
  • 5 X 1L Bundaberg Rum
  • 1 X 700ml Jack Daniel’s
  • 2 X 1L Jack Daniel’s
  • 1 X 1L Jim Beam
  • 1 X 700ml Smirnoff Vodka
  • 2 X 1L Smirnoff Vodka
  • 5 grams of cannabis

Senior Sergeant Shayne Warden said, “We will continue to help reduce the harm caused by alcohol, particularly in remote communities to protect indigenous families.”

All six people were issued an infringement notice to appear in the local court at a later date.
