Northern Territory Police are investigating a two vehicle crash on the Victoria Highway in which a man has died.

The crash was reported at around 7.50pm last night by another motorist who stopped at the location, which is approximately 10 kilometres west of the Victoria River Roadhouse.

A male died at the scene and another male was transported to Katherine Hospital. 

Members of the Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

One lane of the Victoria Highway has reopened and drivers are urged to slow down and follow police direction.
