COVID-19 - Darwin Airport Absconder

Police

Northern Territory police are seeking public assistance to locate 52-year-old John Pracy who arrived on a flight from Sydney this morning and evaded authorities who were set to transport him to mandatory quarantine at the Centre for National Resilience.

Pracy arrived at around 11.40am on flight QF840 and avoided the checkpoint at the airport before leaving in a taxi.

He is a resident of Katherine.

There is no information to suggest Pracy has COVID-19 but he was subject to quarantine due to him coming from a declared hotspot.

Incident Controller Brendan Muldoon said Pracy’s disregard for quarantine protocols is not only in breach of the Chief Health Officer Directions but creates unnecessary risk for the broader community.

“This is very disappointing behaviour and not something we should have to devote time and resources to.

“Anyone who knows of his whereabouts is urged to contact police on 131 444.”
