Charges - Stolen vehicle - Bayview

Northern Territory Police have arrested three youths and one adult in relation to a stolen vehicle in Bayview this morning.

At approximately 2:45am, a vehicle was reported stolen from a residence on Dew Place. A short time later, police apprehended the vehicle on Tiger Brennan Drive using a tyre deflation device.

Four females were apprehended at the scene, two aged 16, one 17 and one 19.

Strike Force Trident detectives charged the 16-year-old driver with:

  • 1 x Unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • 1 x Unlawfully possess property
  • 1 x Fail to obey direction of police officer
  • 1 x Drive unlicensed
  • 1 x Contravention of emergency declaration

She was remanded to appear before court tomorrow.

The 19-year-old was charged with:

  • 1 x Unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • 1 x Contravention of emergency declaration

She was bailed to appear before Darwin Local Court on 13 July 2021.

The two remaining youths will be subject to the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, “NT Police are still out in force to protect the community. We would like to remind people to ensure the safety of all their vehicle keys, especially spare keys, around the home and work place.”
