Charges – Domestic violence – Alice Springs

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged a man in relation to domestic violence offences and for assaulting a police officer in Alice Springs yesterday.

The 19-year-old was arrested by investigators from the Alice Springs Criminal Investigations Branch. During the arrest the man allegedly assaulted an officer resulting in minor injuries.

He was later charged with:

  • 1 x Breach of bail
  • 1 x Breach DVO
  • 1 x Damage to property
  • 1 x Trespass
  • 1 x Assault police
  • 1 x Resist arrest

He was remanded to appear before Alice Springs Local Court today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Megan Blackwell said, “This was a routine arrest for these police members, it did not warrant them being assaulted. Members did well to negotiate with the man, in order to deescalate his behaviour.”
