Charges - Assault with intent to steal - Darwin City

Northern Territory Police have arrested two youths and one adult in relation to a number of assaults with attempts to steal in Darwin City on Sunday night.

At around 10:40pm, three females, two aged 16 and one aged 18, allegedly attempted to rob four women in three separate incidents in quick succession.  One of the incidents resulted in two women being conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital with minor injuries.

Strike Force Trident detectives and general duties officers apprehended the trio in Darwin City a short time later.

One of the 16-year-olds was released without charge to be summonsed at a later date. The other 16-year-old was charged with an unrelated unlawful entry and bailed to face court at a later date.

The 18–year-old was charged with:

  • 2 x Assault with intent to steal
  • 2 x Aggravated assault
  • 1 x Aggravated robbery
  • 1 x Unlawful entry (unrelated incident)

She was remanded to appear before Darwin Local Court today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, “This senseless violence is completely unacceptable, police will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of our community.”
