Arrests - Stolen vehicle - Wanguri

Northern Territory Police have arrested three male youths, aged between 13 and 16, in relation to a stolen vehicle in Wanguri overnight.

At around 1:30am, two witnesses observed the group allegedly steal the vehicle from a residence on Gsell Street, before contacting police. The witnesses have notified the occupant, who confirmed his unit had been broken into and his property allegedly stolen.

A short time later, police observed the stolen vehicle travelling along the Stuart Highway. Police conducted a traffic apprehension and the three youths were taken into custody.

Strike Force Trident detectives are investigating the matter.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, “I commend the witnesses for contacting police immediately when they noticed something odd happening.

“Anyone who may have witnessed an orange Toyota Yaris, NT registration CD63SZ, driving in the area after 1:30am and has dash cam footage, is urged to contact police on 131 444. Please quote reference number 9816416.”
