Arrests - Stolen motor vehicle - Alice Springs

Six youths who were observed recklessly driving a stolen motor vehicle in the Alice Springs CBD at the weekend, have been apprehended by NT Police.

A vehicle which was reported as being stolen from a hotel earlier in the week was observed being driven recklessly in the Alice Springs CBD area at 2:30am on Saturday.

Motorbike patrols, general duties officers, Strike Force Viper members and K9 unit worked together to successfully spike the vehicle using a Tyre Deflation Device along Larapinta Drive.

The vehicle travelled another kilometre before it stopped on the side of the road at which point the K9 unit and motorbike patrol arrested six occupants from the vehicle.

The youth, who are aged 13 to 17-years-old were transported to the Alice Springs Watch House.

Two of the youth were remanded, one was granted bail and three will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
