Arrest – Serious harm – Katherine

Police

Northern Territory Police have a 33-year-old man in custody following a domestic violence incident in Katherine early this morning.

 

Police allege the man was at a residence where he assaulted two women, aged 35 and 23, causing significant injuries to one. She is receiving treatment at Katherine Hospital.

Detectives from the Northern Investigations team are interviewing the alleged offender today. He is expected to be charged with:

  • Unlawfully cause serious harm

  • Aggravated assault

  • Contravene condition of DVO

He will also face court in relation to two outstanding warrants.

Detective Senior Sergeant David Hamlyn said, “Police will continue to hold domestic violence offenders to account. We thank the resident who reported the incident so this man could be taken into custody quickly.”
