Arrest - Crime series - Alice Springs

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in relation to a crime series in the Alice Springs CBD late last month.

It will be alleged the man was one of a group people who;

  • Physically assaulted a 25-year-old man on 20 March.
  • Physically assaulted a 25-year-old man in a car park on the corner of Gregory Terrace and Hartley Street.
  • Stole a handbag from a patron at a restaurant in the Todd Mall, and further seriously assault a staff member who chased the group.
  • Used a stolen credit card multiple times.
  • Assault three police officers.

Investigations revealed the man and co-offenders fled interstate after committing numerous property and criminal offences.

The man returned to Alice Springs and was arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Branch, Strike Force Viper and Police Dog Unit.

The man was refused police bail and remanded in custody charged with the following;

  • Aggravated robbery
  • Aggravated robbery
  • Assault police
  • Obtain property by deception
  • Unlawfully cause serious harm.

He will further charges of three counts of Breach Domestic Violence Order, on unrelated matters.

He is scheduled to appear before court on 24 June, 2021.
