Update – Charges – Aggravated robbery – Karama

Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad have arrested and charged a 25 year-old man, in relation to an aggravated robbery which occurred on Saturday, 18 January.

Following this incident, the male allegedly made his way to a residence in Driver, punched a female occupant to the face and stole her phone. The woman sustained serious injuries to her face.

Police located the alleged offender at a car park in Berrimah on Tuesday, 21 January. The man allegedly attempted to evade police which resulted in a vehicle pursuit. Police later lost sight of the man and his vehicle.

A subsequent search warrant was conducted at a commercial premises in Palmerston yesterday. Police apprehended the man and located stolen property along with drug paraphernalia.

The 25-year-old man was charged with:

  • 2 x Aggravated robbery
  • Demand with menaces
  • Supply schedule 1 drug – less than commercial quantity
  • Stealing
  • Unlawfully cause serious harm
  • Drive manner dangerous - Police pursuit
  • 3 x Unlawfully possess property
  • Possess thing to administer dangerous drug
  • Breach of bail

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Jakson Evans said, “Police often rely on the eyes and ears of the community to obtain information on criminal activity. We thank the public for their assistance in apprehending another violent offender.”

He is due to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
