Unlawful use of motor vehicle – Alice Springs

Police

Officers from Strike Force Viper have charged a 22-year-old man for unlawful use of a motor vehicle and other offences.

Police allege the man stole the vehicle from a Braitling residence on Monday night. Members later recovered the vehicle and arrested the driver without incident.

He was charged with:

  • unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • engage in conduct that contravenes a domestic violence order
  • drive motor vehicle whilst disqualified
  • drive under influence of drugs
  • fail to obey direction of police officer
  • breach of community corrections order

He was bailed to attend Alice Springs Court on 2 February 2021.

Senior Sergeant Evan Kelly said, “This type of offending will not be tolerated. It is unacceptable that individuals are stealing people’s property, especially so close to Christmas. Strike Force Viper investigators will continue to identify and prosecute property crime offenders.”
