Northern Territory Police continue to target poor driving behaviour as the festive season campaign, Operation Roland, highlights the poor choices made by some Territorian drivers. 

Overnight, police conducted random breath and drug testing stations throughout the Darwin region.

In two separate incidents, two men aged 20 and 48, were arrested for drink driving and driving unlicensed. Police later identified that the 48-year-old had not held a drivers licence in 10 years.

A 22-year-old man was also issued with a notice to appear after he attempted to evade an RBT station. The man was also found to be driving unlicensed.

Since the operation commenced, police have arrested 10 people, issued 13 notices to appear and 52 infringement notices for traffic offences.

Acting Superintendent Paul Faustmann said, four people have already lost their lives this December.

“The vast majority of Territorians are getting the message. However, there are some that still would rather risk their lives than spend it with their families this Christmas”.
