Operation Starck – Results update 4 – Drug seizures

Northern Territory Police have seized further quantities of cannabis destined for remote communities as part of Operation Starck.

Operation Starck was established by the Drug and Organised Crime Squad (DOCS) to disrupt the importation of illicit substances, including cannabis and alcohol, into remote communities. Screening of air and sea freight included the physical inspection of shipments by DOCS detectives and the use of drug detector dogs from the Dog Operations Unit.

Between Friday 1 May and Thursday 7 May 2020, police seized approximately 560 grams of cannabis destined for remote communities in the Northern Territory.

Police estimate the street value of cannabis seized to be upwards of $84,300.

Three people were issued a notice to appear in court and four drug infringements were issued.

A search warrant was also executed at a Nightcliff residence resulting in the arrest of a 42-year-old female. The female has been issued with a notice to appear for:

  • supply schedule 2 dangerous drug - less than commercial quantity
  • possess schedule 2 dangerous drug - traffickable quantity

Operation Starck activities are continuing.
