Detectives have arrested a 50 year old male for allegedly bringing methamphetamine into the Northern Territory.

At around 9.30pm on Sunday, 2 February 2020, Detectives from the Drug and Organised Crime Section apprehended the man at the Darwin International Airport disembarking a flight from Adelaide.  The man was searched and 112 grams of methamphetamine was found in his underwear.

The man was charged with

• Possess a commercial quantity of a schedule 1 dangerous drug (methamphetamine)
• Supply a commercial quantity of a schedule 1 dangerous drug (methamphetamine)

The man was remanded in custody and will appear at the Darwin Local Court today.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Matt Akers said “The amount of damage this drug does to the community cannot be overstated, and is destroying families.  Northern Territory Police will continue to take a zero tolerance approach to people dealing in methamphetamine.  We do not want it, or its flow on effects in our community.”
