Police have issued a further infringement notice for failing to abide by the Chief Health Officer Directions issued under section 56 of the Public and Environmental Health Act 2011.

On 4 April 2020, a 45-year-old female in Alawa was found to be hosting a social gathering at her premises involving 14 people, 10 of whom did not reside at the premises. One of the residents was in self-quarantine inside the property after returning from interstate.

The woman was issued with an infringement penalty of $1,099.

NT Police, Public and Environmental Health officers and Australian Defence Force continue to undertake quarantine compliance checks to ensure people are completing their 14 days quarantine.

Physical distance monitoring and enforcing the public gathering limit of ten persons also continues. Territorians are strongly advised to observe the two person limit where possible.

The key message to all Territorians is to “Stay home, if you can”.

The public can be assured that fines will be issued to anyone not respecting the community and doing the right thing.

1,857 compliance checks have now been completed with four fines issued.
