Charges – Property crime - Darwin

Police

Officers from Strike Force Trident have charged four people in relation to several incidents in Darwin over the last week.

On Sunday 20 December police allege a 51-year-old man attended a commercial business and gained entry to a number of storage units.

He was charged with:

  • 6 X damage to property
  • 1 X unlawful entry
  • 1 X drive unlicensed

He was bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court on 13 January 2021.

On Tuesday 22 December, a Subaru Forester was stolen from a residence in Coconut Grove. At around 10.50 that morning, the vehicle crashed into a garden bed on Bagot Rd, Millner.

Members have since arrested two men, aged 26, 39 and one female aged 45.

The 26 and 45-year-old were charged with:

  • unlawful use of motor vehicle

The 26-year-old was bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court on 13 January 2021.

The 45-year-old was issued with a Notice to Appear.

The 39-year-old was charged with:

  • aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • unlawful possession
  • drive motor vehicle while disqualified
  • drive high range blood alcohol content
  • not stop after crash

He was remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Local Court on 27 January 2021.

Senior Sergeant Robert Jordan said, “It is extremely disappointing that we have members of the community continuing to commit such offences. Strike Force Trident are working tirelessly, 24 hours, seven days a week to help prevent and deter these activities.”
