Charges – Domestic violence - Darwin

Police

Northern Territory Police have charged two men, aged 19 and 23, with domestic violence offences.

Police allege the men assaulted a 47-year-old man last month, and that the 19-year-old assaulted him again recently, causing serious injuries.

The 19-year-old was charged with:

  • 1 X unlawful cause serious harm
  • 2 X aggravated assault
  • 1 X engage in violent conduct
  • 1 X go armed with offensive weapon at night

The 23-year-old was charged with:

  • 1 X aggravated assault
  • 1 X go armed with offensive weapon at night
  • 1 X warrant of apprehension 

Both men have been remanded in custody to attend Darwin Local Court on 27 January 2021.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Warren Scott said, “Northern Territory Police have launched Operation Sherman, focusing on repeat and high risk domestic violence offenders and victims.

“I encourage all victims of domestic violence to reach out and to report matters. Stay safe this festive season and look out for one another. Say ‘No More’ to domestic violence.”
