Charges – Aggravated robbery – Palmerston

Northern Territory Police have arrested two males aged 14 and 16 for aggravated robbery and other offences.

Around 5:45pm on Sunday 20 September, a group of youths were walking along Tilston Avenue, Moulden, when they were approached by a second group of youths.

The 16-year-old male allegedly demanded money from a 13-year-old male in the first group and threatened violence. He and the 14-year-old male then allegedly assaulted the 13-year-old and stole his property.

Bystanders stopped to assist the victim and the two males fled.

The alleged offenders attended a community hall in Palmerston shortly after. While there, the 16-year-old allegedly struck a 13-year-old male. A 15-year-old male allegedly had a chair thrown at him and table pushed against him. Following the disturbance, some of his property was stolen.

Yesterday afternoon, the 14-year-old male and 16-year-old male were arrested by police following a short foot pursuit in Palmerston. As the 16-year-old was being placed into a police vehicle, he allegedly kicked a police officer.

Strike Force Trident detectives have charged the youths.

The 14-year-old male has been charged with:

  • aggravated robbery
  • engage in violent conduct.

He will appear in court today.

The 16-year-old male has been charged with:

  • aggravated robbery
  • engage in violent conduct
  • assault police.

He will appear in court on Friday 25 September 2020.
