Northern Territory Police have arrested a 23-year-old man following alleged aggravated assaults on Saturday 25 January 2020.
At around 8:00pm, a group of people were travelling in a vehicle from Alice Springs to a remote community. The group pulled over to the side of the road and an altercation occurred in relation to the driving manner of the 23-year-old man.
As a result, the 23-year-old man allegedly slashed a 41-year-old woman to the stomach and cut a 42-year-old man on the hand. The victims left the 23-year-old man on the side of the road and travelled home for assistance.
The female victim suffered a laceration to her stomach and was transported to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment. The 42-year-old man suffered minor injuries to his hand.
At 8:40am on Sunday 12 April, police were conducting enquiries into an unrelated matter at an Alice Springs residence when the 23-year-old was located and arrested.
He was charged with:
- aggravated assault x 2
- breach domestic violence order
- possess controlled weapon
- drive unlicensed
- driving under the influence of alcohol
He was scheduled to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.
