Call for witnesses - Stealing - Ludmilla

Police

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses in relation to a stealing incident that occurred earlier this morning.

Around 3:00am, a 57-year-old man was signalled by a white Toyota Hilux to pull over, between Ross-Smith Avenue and Bagot Road.

The driver of the Hilux approached the man, stating he was a police officer and asked to see the man’s drivers licence.

The man was unable to identify the man approaching as the Hilux had bright spotlights on the roof of the vehicle.

He provided his driver’s licence before the man allegedly grabbed his wallet and ran back to the vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad are investigating the matter. Under the Police Administration Act 1978, impersonating a police officer carries the maximum penalty of three months’ imprisonment and / or a fine of four penalty units ($632).
