Arrest - Attempted robbery - Alice Springs

A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to an attempted robbery incident in Alice Springs at the weekend.

At around 7:22am on Sunday April 26, it will be alleged the man entered a service station on Railway Terrace and went behind the unattended console area where he attempted to open the till.

A staff member confronted the offender who then lunged at the worker with a weapon.

The two men wrestled prior to the offender fleeing the location in an awaiting vehicle.

Northern Territory Police have located, arrested and charged the alleged offender with one count of Robbery with Violence. He is scheduled to appear before the Alice Springs Local Court at a later date.

Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them on 131 444 or report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
