Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service have issued a watch and act for some properties at Kalano Community to Emungalan Road.

A large bush fire in the vicinity of Kalano Community is moving towards Emungalan Road.  This area is under threat. The winds are at 40 - 50km per hour and have jumped all fire breaks.

Residents in this vicinity that have not already enacted their Fire Safety Plans in this area must do so as a matter of urgency. 

Multiple NTFRS and Bushfires NT crews are on scene battling the fire. The fire is generating a significant amount of smoke in the area so residents are advised to close their windows and stay indoors.

For the safety of firefighting crews and other vehicles, drivers in the area are urged to slow down, turn on headlights and drive safely for the conditions. Obey any directions of emergency services personnel.
