Liquor seized - Katherine

Police

Katherine Police have issued a summons to appear in court to a 52-year-old male after he was allegedly caught selling alcohol.

Police observed two males exchanging alcohol on Railway Terrace around 10:45am today. It is believed a 52-year-old sold alcohol to a male who intended to take the alcohol to an alcohol protected area.

A subsequent search of the alleged seller’s vehicle located further alcohol which was subsequently destroyed.

Senior Sergeant Karen Sanderson said, “Police are aware that people are resorting to the secondary supply of alcohol. We will continue proactive policing to prevent alcohol related harm in the community.”

“Police Auxiliary Liquor Inspectors continue to have a positive impact on the community by preventing the sale of alcohol to those who would abuse the privilege,” she said.

Anyone with information on the supply of alcohol is asked to notify police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
