Darwin Alcohol Policing Unit members conducted luggage screening for alcohol on a flight heading to an alcohol protected area this morning.

Members located a quantity of liquor consisting of 12 bottles of spirits and a trafficable quantity of cannabis. A quantity of yeast was surrendered to police after it was ascertained the yeast was intended for the purpose of brewing alcohol in alcohol protected areas.

This seizure greatly reduces the effects of alcohol related harm in the community.

The offenders received drug infringement notices for the possession of cannabis and the other items were destroyed.
