Drug and firearm arrest - Alice Springs

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 30-year-old man after he was found in possession of a commercial quantity of a dangerous drug and a prohibited weapon.

It is alleged members of the Cross Border Team were conducting a search of the man when they located a commercial quantity of LSD, a quantity of methamphetamine and a significant amount of cash.

The man was arrested and transported to the Alice Springs Watch House.

Members of the Cross Border Team and Southern Drug Investigation Unit conducted a search of the man’s residential address where they located a sawn off firearm, drug paraphernalia and a prohibited weapon.

The man was charged with:

  • Supply Schedule 1 less than commercial quantity
  • Possess Schedule 1 commercial
  • Possess Schedule 1 less than trafficable
  • Receive or possess property commission of an offence
  • Possess firearm while unlicensed
  • Fail to meet storage requirements
  • Possess prohibited firearm
  • Possess thing to administer dangerous drug
  • Drive unregistered motor vehicle.

He has been remanded in custody to appear before court on February 21, 2019.
