Groote Eylandt Police have charged a 65-year-old man with drug offences.

The man arrived in Groote Eylandt on a flight on Tuesday 5 March 2019. Dog Operations Unit officers and Detection Dogs Bear and Lena searched the man’s luggage and detected seven sealed packages of cannabis weighing 300 grams.

He was charged with:

• Supply Schedule 2 Dangerous Drug in Indigenous Community
• Possess Traffickable Quantity Cannabis Public Place

He is due to appear in Alyangula Local Court later this month.
