Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses to an assault on a woman in Alice Springs on Wednesday night.

Around 11pm a woman was walking across the Stott Terrace Bridge towards Sadadeen Road when she was approached by a group of young women who are alleged to have assaulted her.

The woman received minor injuries and had her bag and backpack stolen during the incident. Police managed to recover return most of her belongings.

Police urge anyone with information which may assist with their investigation into the incident to contact them on 131 444 or report it anonymously via Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 and reference PROMIS number 9150930.
