Arrests – Unlawful Entry – Wurrumiyanga

Wurrumiyanga Police have arrested seven people in relation to an unlawful entry which occurred on 31 December, 2018.

The offenders allegedly broke into a business and stole items including electronics and food.

The cost of damage and loss of stock is estimated to be approximately $26,000.

Police arrested five of the alleged offenders on Thursday, 3 January. A 15-year-old female and two males, aged 15 and 17, have been considered for youth diversion. Two males, aged 18 and 19, were arrested and bailed to appear in Wurrumiyanga Local Court on 22 January.

An 18-year-old male and a 22-year-old male were both arrested by Wurrumiyanga Police on Friday, 4 January. They have also been bailed to appear in Wurrumiyanga Local Court on 22 January.

All adults were charged with unlawful entry and stealing.

Wurrumiyanga Remote Sergeant Jack Mather has thanked the community of Wurrumiyanga for joining together with police.

“We appreciate the community holding an open community meeting to assist in identifying the seven people who were arrested.

“I’d also like to thank my officers for a job well done,” he said.
