A 42-year-old man will appear before the Alice Springs Local Court in relation to an incident in which left another man with serious injuries.

It is alleged the man struck a 30-year-old man on the arm with a weapon causing severe injuries, just after 9pm on Tuesday.

The victim managed to flag down a passing police vehicle, which provided assistance until St Johns Ambulance arrived on scene.

The offender fled the area and was later arrested by police and charged with one count of committing an act intended to cause serious harm.

He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before court on July 4, 2019.
