The new police station at Angurugu will be staffed and operational from tonight – New Year’s Eve.

NT Police appreciate the patience of the community and look forward to spending more time in the township to ensure the sense of safety and amenity for all residents.

Angurugu Police Station was officially opened on 7 November 2019 however technical difficulties regarding IT connectivity delayed the premises becoming operational.

These issues have been now been resolved.

Assistant Commissioner, Regional Operations and Road Policing, Narelle Beer said police now have the presence and the facilities to meet community requirements and expectations across Groote Eylandt.

“With the Angurugu police station becoming operational, our members now have a permanent, modern base to continue their work in engagement and stakeholder relationships to support and maintain community safety.”
