Water Fowl Hunting – Darwin

Police

Northern Territory Police are reminding the public to ensure they adhere to the appropriate laws and regulations during water fowl hunting season.

Police have received numerous complaints about illegal goose shooting in the rural area. Investigations have resulted in compliance action, including fines and seizures of wildlife taken illegally.

Hunters must ensure they have the appropriate permits. A permit to remove or possess water fowl can be obtained from Parks, Wildlife and Heritage. Hunting without appropriate permits can lead to court appearances and significant fines.

In addition to hunting permits, shooters must have a current firearms licence and ensure that their firearms are registered. Failure to do so can result in court appearances, on the spot fines and the seizure of firearms.
