Police have arrested a 31-year-old man in relation to a home invasion in Alice Springs overnight.

It is alleged the occupant of a home in Larapinta was woken up by his two dogs barking around 8pm.

When he walked out of his bedroom when he was allegedly confronted by an armed man who began threatening him and his two dogs.

The armed man then threw down the weapons and repeatedly assaulted the occupant before causing damage to the property and leaving.

The 55-year-old home owner received a gash to his eyebrow, which required medical treatment. No one else was injured during the incident.

The alleged offender was later arrested by Police at another address earlier this morning and is expected to face charges later today.
