Two charged after commercial quantity of methamphetamine found - Darwin

Members from the Drug and Organised Crime Division have arrested and charged a 30-year-old male and 28-year-old female in relation to a commercial quantity of methamphetamine.

The drugs were found on Tuesday this week after a drug detection dog responded to a package in Katherine being freighted to Darwin from interstate. Examination of the package revealed 454 grams of methamphetamine and 28 grams of cannabis concealed inside. 

The potential street value of the methamphetamine is around $450,000.

Both were charged with the following:

-        Supply Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug – Commercial Qty;

-        Possess Schedule 1 Dangerous Drug – Commercial Qty;

-        Possess Schedule 2 Dangerous Drug; and

-        Possess Thing – Administer Dangerous Drug.

The male and female were remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court on 24 May 2018.
