Tropical Cyclone Warning - Update #5

Gale force winds and heavy rain continue to affect Milikapiti, Croker Island and Coburg Peninsula.

TC Marcus remains a category one cyclone however this is expected to change. Currently the system is tracking south west at eight kilometres an hour.

NTES advises residents at Milikapiti to Croker Island, including Cobourg Peninsula:

  • Gales are now in your area
  • Stay indoors and avoid travel during the storm
  • Stay away from beaches and immediate coastal areas as dangerous coastal flooding may occur

“Areas including Melville Island and Darwin should expect increasing weather activity within the next six hours,” Regional Controller Gavin Kennedy said.

“Anyone considering moving to a public cyclone shelter should do so now.”
