NTES Flood Safe Short Film

Police

Northern Territory Emergency Service (NTES) launched a new flood safety film at the annual Northern Territory Government (NTG) Seasonal Briefing in Darwin yesterday.

The film was produced by a local studio with funding provided by the Northern Territory and Australian Governments through the Natural Disaster Resilience Program.

It targets Indigenous audiences to convey safety messages about crossing flood waters.

Sung in English and narrated in English and a number of Indigenous languages, NTES hopes that this educational tool will reduce flood fatalities for those in flood affected regions.

The film will be available on the NTPFES website and social media, and will be promulgated to remote TV and radio stations.

This film will be actively promoted throughout ongoing NTES community engagement as staff travel throughout the Territory,” Director of NTES Jason Collins said.

“The aim of this film is to make those in remote communities aware of the dangers of crossing flood waters. Remember, if it’s flooded, forget it.”

“Your decision may be the difference between life and death. Turn around, don’t drown,” he said.
