A woman has been charged with high range drink driving after being apprehended by an off duty police officer last night.

It is alleged that the off duty member observed the 32-year-old woman driving in a dangerous manner on Hook Road, Winnellie and instructed her to pull over, requesting further police assistance.

The driver returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.272 grams and was arrested for drink driving.

In a separate incident last night, a 31–year-old driver was pulled over as part of a traffic apprehension on the Stuart Highway in Berrimah.

He was tested for drugs and arrested following a positive reading.

A search of the Toyota Hilux he was driving uncovered:

  • A set of handcuffs
  • Seven rounds of ammunition
  • One firework
  • A radar detector
  • Bags with tablets suspected to be MDMA

The driver has been charged with:

  • Drive with prohibited drug in blood
  • Possess ammunition without a licence
  • Possess fireworks outside approved period
  • Possess traffickable quantity of a Schedule 1 drug
