The Northern Territory road toll has risen to eight after a fatal crash in Darwin River.

Around 7:30pm last night, police and emergency services were called to Leonino Road where a motorcycle and vehicle had collided.

The 16-year-old male rider of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating, with Leonino Road expected to be inaccessible until investigations are complete.
